Second Day at Paraparaumu College (Tuesday)

Our second day at Paraparaumu College was  cold windy but a day of many rainbows! (I counted 6!)

In there morning, our students became assistant teachers and helped out in Japanese classes. They played some games together and showed the local students how to write their names in katakana.





















After that they met up with their buddies and many students seemed more and more comfortable interacting with their new friends. Many students also had short outings with the families to the shopping mall or the local beach.



Finally, today's kiwi watching mission was a big success, and today's group were able to see 2 kiwis running around the enclosure! Very lucky!!

Sayonara Party (Friday)

 Today was our last full day at Paraparaumu College, with the Farewell Party in the evening.  Before that we had our last ESOL class with Mr Harris in the morning. The students all tried making a mini pavlova. Then in the evening we had the Sayonara Party. First we all had some delicious fish’n chips for dinner, then the Tosa students all got on stage and danced the Soran-Bushi.  After that, the students did some calligraphy for their host families and buddies. Finally, each Tosa student got up on stage and gave a farewell speech. It was sad to say goodbye, and there were many tears, but everyone was able to do a great job!

We made it to Paraparaumu!! (Sunday)

After many long flights and some very long transfers, we safely made it to Paraparaumu at 5pm! It is very cold (about 6 degrees) and windy here, and we were tired from the trip but also excited to be in a new country. Although a few of the boys had to change families at the last minute, in the end we were all able to meet our host families and start our home-stays.
